The Great Orchid Count

A piece of grassland near here is famous for its annual display of Orchids.
It is owned and cared for by the National Trust.

Every year the Trust organises a count of the total number of Orchid spikes.
Last year there were 11,000 plus Green Winged Orchids and 5,000 plus Early Purple Orchids.

Today we visited the field to talk to our friends and to see how the count was getting on.

Unfortunately my photos were not up to standard but my extra shows a small portion of the site and gives an impression of what it is like.
