Rain and sunshine

Yes. A little sun with us today, and first thing, the morning was stunningly beautiful. It didn’t last.

Fellow followers of the Giro d’Italia will know that in the south of Italy, the weather has been horrific. Driving rain, hazardous and so dangerous. Several crashes, but by far the most dramatic was not a result of the weather.

A little stray dog got involved in the action, bringing the World Champion, Remco Evenepoul, crashing to the ground. He was motionless, apparently partly caused by anger. Worried officials. But then he got back up and rejoined the Peleton…..

Just as I type there’s another crash, 6.7 km to go, the last corner, and the slippery surface brought lots to the floor.

Has the Maglia Rosa escaped ( a lovely young Norwegian guy who managed to get into first place yesterday.)

It’s not Italian weather. It’s one hell of a Giro so far…..

Edit.  Another huge crash……Evenepoul, and dozens more, are also down. It’s in the last 3km so it may not change much. The young Norwegian is keeping the pink jersey…..
