Crazy About Birds

Siberian Iris

I have some increasingly large clumps of Siberian iris. Much more delicate than the bearded iris, but I love them both.

The extra is an American robin. I heard it singing and was surprised because I almost never see them in or near my yard. I see huge flocks of them up on Chapel Spring Ln, and on very rare occasions they swoop into the woods behind our house all chattering at each other. But mostly, like the mockingbirds, they don't hang out in my yard. Odd. But anyway, there he was - singing loudly way up in a tree. I was hoping it was a scarlet tanager (they sound similar), but no. Then again, a robin in my yard is actually rarer than a scarlet tanager at this time of year!
