Bempton cliffs.

My back as improved, fortunately, so we are at caravan for a few days. Today Darren brought me to the coast. Went on the beach at Filey this morning, which was really nice in the glorious sunshine. The afternoon was spent at flamborough and the evening at Bempton Cliffs.
Bempton cliffs is an RSPB bird reserve on the Yorkshire coast. As we had had a long day Darren let me rest in car as he went to photograph the birds, the cool North Sea breeze meant I was fine in the car, it was after 6 pm too.
In the photo you can see a Gannet, a lovely looking bird and photogenic, unfortunately it was only when darren looked at photos on computer that he saw something a bit more disturbing. It may be hard to see it on this blip photo as they seem to make every photo as soft as warm butter but there is a man made piece of string or cord which seems to have wrapped round the Gannet. If you look to the left of photo there is a white line and this continues behind the gannets neck and under its belly and then continues past its feet. This is the kind of thing that can kill sea birds, we’ll never know what happens to this individual, hopefully it’s able to free itself of this material but it would be far better if humans didn’t dispose of material like this so casually as they do.
