Two Blue Plaques

We went to a blue plaque unveiling at Berry Head Hotel, Brixham today. It already has one for the Rev Henry Francis Lyte, who lived there when he was Vicar of All Saints Brixham, and wrote the famous hymn 'Abide With Me' there in 1847. This one was for Commander Evelyn G Martin OBE RNVRwho stayed there many times as a guest of the family. He was an all rounder in the grand tradition, sailor, cricketer, artist, journalist and war hero. He founded the Fasnet race, which he won in in 1925. Naturally he went to Eton.
