Who said it was hot this weekend?

It was interesting to see how people with different backgrounds handled the fine weather we were lucky enough to experience over the bank holiday weekend. Whilst most people were more than happy to walk around in T shirts and shorts, these two ladies obviously still found it a little on the cold side. It's amazing that our bodies are so influenced by what we are conditioned to expect as 'the norm'. Cleary, it would have to get significantly warmer before their coats were going to come off.

I'm reminded of Luke's first year in China. The classrooms are air conditioned and one hot day, he set the thermostat to 20 degrees C, what we have been brought up to think of as 'room temperature'. As the day progressed, he was still finding it unbearably warm so went to check the thermostat only to find it had been moved to 26 degrees C. He asked his teaching assistant if she knew who had altered it and she happily put her hand up and said it was her. She found 20 degrees to be like a fridge and was comfortable at 26 - her idea of room temperature. I suspect these two ladies would have approved.

As I type this, I am snacking on tortilla chips with an allioli dip. Food heaven, but gives you stinky breath :-)
