It was the 1940 gala on the KESR today. I wasn’t on duty this weekend so we made the most of the chance to absorb the atmosphere of the event; singing, dancing, music, displays, exhibitions all focused on the 1940s decade.

Plenty of people dressed in authentic costume, vehicles, army paraphernalia, Home Guard, the NAFFI, stalls selling retro clothes, cookery demonstrations all against a backdrop of trains arriving and departing.

After 257 Squadron departed light engine for Rolvenden we repaired to the Old Dairy Brewery and bar adjacent station for a few samples of their craft beer and a plate of nachos. A pleasant end to a pleasant day.
