The second half of life..

Mushrooms in the Park

I was fortunate to be asked if I'd like to join D to go into the Abel Tasman National Park to check the trap line he monitors.  It's been a bit of a waiting game after the wet weather we've had recently but today was fine, clear and sunny so all good :)  We left home at 7.45 and drove over to Marahau before taking a water taxi along the coast up to Cyathea Cove.  Whilst we were there to check 30-odd traps the seconadry reason was to photograph some fungi.  After all the rain the hope was that they would be plentiful.  Sadly, they weren't but we didn't let that spoil an otherwise lovely walk along a lovely track.  The good news was our final rat tally......5 rats trapped in total so there are now 5 less rats in the National Park than there may otherwise have been.

By the time I got home at around 6.00 I was absolutely shattered and more than a little bit sore too.   Nothing a good night's sleep won't cure though.....a great day in great company.  Thanks D :)
