French, British, Swedish, Norwegian ... that's how it rolls in Almuñecar. The weather smiled upon us today, as we took basically all of the furniture out of the house onto the terrace, to cater for lunch with nine friends. For once we managed to keep the catering simple ... salads to start, barbecued ribs plus escalivade (and goat's cheese for the vegetarians), then home-made cake and ice cream to finish (plus a delicious lemon mousse cake from Mercadona, contributed by F).

Some of us spent a long time drinking aperitifs ... despite our attempt to describe where the house is, H got hopelessly lost and after a number of increasingly bemused phone calls I ended up going out to  retrieve her. S and R were even later. But eventually we all sat down and had a lovely time. Happily the weather forecast was just as wrong as it was yesterday -- it did cloud over at one point, but mostly it was sunny with a slight breeze.

We waved people off at 7 pm (yes, that's how lunch works here) and spent the next hour regretting the absence of a dishwasher. All done now, and we are sipping the remains of several unfinished bottles.
