The big 90733

The weather today wasn't nearly as nice as yesterday, but It's bank holiday weekend and the preservation societies trains were running again so today was another chance to enjoy the vintage trains, carriages and stations etc. This is the big 90733 that frequently pulls the Pullman carriages where gourmet meals are served as the train gently chugs along the line. There's even a Kitchen Car where the meals are freshly cooked and you are served 'Orient Express' style. Nothing is spared to make sure you have a great experience on this line, although the dining service isn't available all the time, only on 'high days and holidays', as my Grandma used to call them.
The news today about rail preservation societies in general was not good. With the demise of the last few coal mines in the UK, the availability of coal is diminishing and the pool of volunteers with the requisite steam engine training is gradually getting less and less. It would be such a shame if we were to lose those we have, but it's generally accepted that they will now struggle more than ever.
