Water violet

We spotted this water violet in our pond this morning. Apparently, it’s not a violet rather a species of water primrose. Further investigation revealed that it is an endangered species much affected by water quality. It’s on the red list. How did it get there? The quality of our pond water must suit it.

Joe Wicks and a walk this morning and grass cutting at the allotment. As I was mowing, I wondered if I ought to be doing it as it is No Mow May. If I left it any longer I wouldn’t be able to find the crops amongst the towering grasses.
