Signs of the Times

It may be time to build an ark and sail the Via Francigena. So. Much. Rain. We didn’t even consider biking to our destination today…35 miles in the rain, on asphalt with cars and trucks. Nope. We weren’t gonna do it. It was bad enough biking those death defying conditions to the train station the next town over. Bike lane? Not even a shoulder. So we took the train to Fiorenzuola. Fields of corn and poppies. We’re staying at an agriturismo. A walk in town provided the blips of today. The main is a sign on the church door, “For Respect in the House of God and for Public Health, Do not Spit on the Ground, Use your handkerchief.” The window of the Horse Meat store down the block had a sign posted extolling the health benefits for eating equine.
