Waiting

'Waiting' is a bronze sculpture made in 1988 by American sculptor J. Seward Johnson Jr (see extra for a photo of the plaque). The man in the sculpture is sitting on a bench, his briefcase and hat beside him as he holds his newspaper. In the sculpture's moment, he is not reading the paper. He is in fact looking up, over it, perhaps seeing if the person he's waiting for is in sight.

This sculpture is at Australia Square, dominated by a 47 storey cylindrical tower designed by Australian architect Harry Seidler and completed in 1967. The nearby Plaza Building, also designed by him, is raised on concrete piloti to free the ground space. Under these, the waiting man sits and up at them, and the skyscrapers beyond, I look.

Thank you for hosting wide Wednesday Bob.

Thanks to all who had a go at guessing my TT mystery. It's the skin of a sweet potato. Because I don't like them, this one began to sprout in my pantry so M put it in soil in a pot, weeks if not months ago. By now the sprouts are leafy and the skin weathered.
