A view from St Swithin

Slains Castle

I drove up to the cliffs at Bullers of Buchan to try and blip some puffins this afternoon. Unfortunately there were none to see ( the best time for viewing is early morning or in the evening I subsequently learnt) and instead I got some blurry shots of guillemots and kittiwakes. Undeterred I drove a short distance down the road and had a wander about Slains Castle. The castle is believed to be the inspiration for Bram Stoker's novel Dracula. He spent some time here in the late 19thC. More recently it featured in The Crown standing in for the Castle of Mey when the Queen Mother goes to Scotland in Series 1. Its a great place much favoured by local photographers.
