tempus fugit

Sitting it out

It was the annual plant swop/sale in town.

I took raspberry suckers, perpetual kale stalks and broccoli plants and came away with lovage seedlings, some plant pot saucers and - great scoop this - a garden fork, spade and hoe for son's family who are getting their back yard in order.  There must be so many old garden tools mouldering away unused and uncherished that it's crazy to go out and buy new.

One child [not mine] decided that horticulture was not for her.

The event was organised by our Greening Group of volunteers who keep the town's flower beds and green spaces looking attractive  all year without the use of weedkillers or pesticides. The bed here is enlivened by  shiny yellow buttercups along with the more  official  flowers and is overtopped by the towering  echiums to be seen  in the extra.
