Day Out

On Saturday (yes, it is now Tuesday, yes I am behind) my church had a student away day in Catfield. It was fantastic. I'm just going to put in some google key words so that if anyone is looking for a "good student church" in "Norwich, UK" they might happen upon "Holy Trinity Norwich". Numbers of students fluctuate each year, but the church always makes an effort to work with any and all who are there - Sunday night Bible studies, regular social stuff, an 'adopt-a-student' scheme and an occasional away day for relaxation or more intensive study of a particular topic. As with all churches it isn't perfect, but it does have a good sense of community and involvement, very important when you're a student moving to a new city (or country) without any contacts there.

Enough spruiking. This away day was intended just to be an end of term, end of year, end of degree, final big thing before a lot of people run off to jobs and other post-graduation things all over the place. We were at the old Catfield Rectory (now a B&B), and we had an afternoon and evening of enjoying the wonderfully heated swimming pool, playing (ish) tennis, watching the animals, and eating a stack of food. Here are the two pigs who came to meet us as we walked through their field to the tennis courts. They're very friendly and thought we were going to feed them, although sadly we had to disappoint them and scramble over the fence to stop them friendly snuffling us. DDW's theme for the day was round, so here they are complete with round nose-rings.

It was a really relaxing day. I should have been studying, but it was Legitimate Time Off and I have come back to it this week feeling refreshed and ready to get stuck in. Thanks everyone!
