Two steps forward...

Duck

Yes. It's a mallard.

Better large

Having had a British Gas engineer come round for the 3rd time to attempt to get my meter to communicate with their server it struck me that the UK’s productivity is falling behind that of the rest of the industrialised nations’ because a large proportion of the workforce is simply inept. This has the effect of creating more jobs (which cost more money) to correct the ineptitude, except the people doing those jobs are also inept etc. The end result is that it takes about 10 people to change a simple lightbulb. Not only that, before you’re allowed to even look at the light bulb you have to go on 5 different courses on basic common sense run by more inept people and then sign up to a life of absolutely useless CPD (run by a mate of the manager who also does a YouTube “life hacks” channel with even more banal revelations that would be obvious to anyone if they weren’t… inept) without which you’re not “qualified” to use a light switch. I imagine all these people will need treatment for Imposter Syndrome at some point and will end up seeing a just qualified psychotherapist who only went into the the job because there was no room on the childcare course. No wonder everything costs so bloody much whilst being utterly useless at the same time.

Aaaaah....
