Just a parrot's life

Update health issues of my feathered kiddo Tommy

Tommy again went to Utrecht to the avian specialist today. The ones who follow Tommy's story know what he is dealing with. I will write a short update but I won't answer questions from people who don't know everything because I just don't have the energy.
From 2018 - 2020 he was diagnosed with chronical gastritis and got different meds. In 2020 he started again with health issues. We now know that he has avian food intolerance (most likely gluten) and Ishan from GaaiGoed made a special seedmix for him. But he still is smacking regularly (slime in his beaky) and his poop is also abnormal regularly. Than he also has (we think) behaviour issues holding his poop way too long when he is in his cage during the day. Know that we ( me and Dr Yvonne van Zeeland) tried everything during that time to see if we could change this, till today without results. It also started about a year after he got his amazing handmade stainless steel cage from villafilou. Till a few weeks ago I always said that this cage will never ever will be sold because this cage was ofcourse for the rest of his grey life!!! But to make a long story short, I bought a regular parrot cage just to know what to decide. He is doing good in this one too but he holds his poop still to long but some days I came home he did poop. Some normal, some abnormal (stinks heavely) but cleaning this one is way more easy that the stainless steel one. That was the moment that I asked Astrid who build the cage to take it back. With pain in my heart... also it was made with the money from our dear Opa.
Dr Zoë did some tests today, checked his poop, listened to his heart and everything was quite okay, no bacteries in his poop (again a confirmation that it all has to do with digestion problems) only she saw that he troubles with the digestion of proteins.
Next step. Another gastroscopy. My poor boy. He is my baby and means everything to me so for me dealing with this everyday is hard. Than I have Mr Quaker who is sick and needs meds three times per day. To be continued.
