Field of Poppies

As it’s Memorial Day on Monday in the US, I thought I’d post this picture of a striking field of poppies we passed. I also picked some for our little table vase in the camper van.

Today we stopped in Bayonne, France for some shopping. It is a picturesque city boasting a cathedral with a double spire with views of the Pyrenees in the back ground. It’s on the border between France and Spain.
Next we passed through Biarritz with scenic glimpses of the sea.

My tip is - “Don’t take this trip if you are claustrophobic!” First, the Channel Tunnel and now tunnel after tunnel, maybe 16 in total, as we crossed the Pyrenees into Spain.

We arrived at our overnight campsite in Cubillas, Spain and set up the camper van.
We decided to go out to eat at a local restaurant within walking distance. The reviews mostly gave it good recommendations, but when we got there, we were told that it wasn’t open yet. However there were a few dishes of local food on display in the bar and we were hungry so we did our best to order something in our broken Spanish…
First, a Russian Salad to share with some stale bread and then a stew of some kind. We had no idea, to be honest - big mistake!
After it arrived, looking like something the dog would throw up, I tried a few pieces and some of the sauce.
We were later given some information from Mike, my brother in law, who said it was sheep or cow’s stomach linings. Yuk!

Back home in our camper for the night and storms are predicted, so David is busy putting every away.
Im going to bed earlier as I’m not feeling 100%. Maybe it’s just psychological!
