Popping out to the bank

Got loads on today, so thought I'd nip out for a pint of milk and an early blip.

Just round the corner from the office is this stately carving over a solid-looking door. I think the ESB stands for Edinburgh Savings Bank, and if I'm right, this is their 170th anniversary ... or it would have been if they hadn't merged with the TSB long ago, apparently.

Of course, like many bank buildings, it's no longer being used as a bank (it's an office, rather than a pub). But it still has that imposing solidity that says "you can give us all your money becuase we're trustworthy serious gentlemen who will take jolly good care of it."
