Getting the sparkle back

By DomesticGoddess

Just look at my foot!

A baby coot on Craiglockhart Pond. I went to Blackford Pond first and spent quite a while watching the family of little grebes, with four young, who are close to the near bank. It's great to get so close, but I do worry about them being so exposed. The swans still seemed to be incubating, no signs of cygnets.

Then I went to Craiglockhart Pond where there were several young coot families, also some young mallard ducklings. It seems that Tullius and Brighid managed to chase off last year's cygnets and are nesting themselves.

Back-blipped from 27th.
