Edinburgh (and East Lothian) Marathon

Today was the Edinburgh marathon (over 35,000 runners watched by 100,000 spectators apparently) which winds its way for a few miles in Edinburgh before coming into East Lothian and finishing in the playing fields in Musselburgh.

It’s great to see all the runners, the joy and for some the pain, as they go over the finish line, however, I do have a gripe.

Isn’t it time the ‘Edinburgh Marathon’ was renamed the Edinburgh and East Lothian Marathon? Just eight miles of the route are in Edinburgh, with the rest in my own county - we suffer a lot of disruption and don’t even get a namecheck!

I have written an email to the local paper about this.

It’s good to offer suggestions.
