Red and gold

I photographed this striking red and gold hibiscus in a garden as I walked into the village today. It may be a cultivar called 'D J O'Brien' -  a wonderful Irish name for a tropical plant.

One horticultural website writes, in purplish prose:  Hibiscus flowers conjure up memories of tropical-islands and beachside holidays as their flamboyant flowers light up summer gardens. They are such generous shrubs unfurling new flowers day after day so there is always something bold and colourful to enjoy amid the dense green of our summer gardens. This variety blooms with a medium sized, double orange coloured flower.
