Just hanging around

We have friends that live in Sutton Coldfield (F has been friends with A for 60 years since they were at school). Every few months we meet up half way (at Telford) for a meal and a catch up.

Today was the day for our get together.  The A5 from Oswestry was very heavy with traffic returning from holidays at the Welsh coast.  When we got to the place that we turn off, the road was closed so we had to retrace a few miles and go a different way.  My OS map was in my car as was my satnav (F doesn't have one). I tried to use my smart phone but it kept losing signal.  The narrow lanes and villages were not on the road map of course.

Eventually we arrived at Wrockwardine which we knew was close by.  Some people were carrying a scarecrow to put on display for  their village scarecrow festival.  We were only a few yards from the road that we knew!

We arrived late of course, it had taken us two hours instead of the usual one hour!

It was good to see our friends and we had a good chat and meal.

We called to see the scarecrows on our way home.  These are the ones made by the kind people that gave us directions.

The road was open again when we  went home so an uneventual journey.back!
