Life of a bubble maker

Had a bit of a lie in this morning and headed out around 8am as we were told that it was better to let the mist burn off at the Grand Prismatic Spring. On the way we got stuck in our first bison jam as a herd of them walked down the road on the opposite side. Arrived at Grand Prismatic and it was very impressive, could just have done with a bit more wind to move the steam off the surface of the pool to make a better shot. Couldn’t get the photo I wanted from the overlook as it was closed due to bear activity. From there we headed north and went around the Fire hole drive. This lead to an impressive water fall and just around the corner was an osprey nest. We stopped and walked back and managed to get some nice photos of the mum on the nest and dad on his perch. Waited to see if he would come back from his fishing trip but ran out of time. From there we headed to the west entrance long the river Madison Had a nice walk around the wolf and bear refuge before headed back towards the hotel. Drove along the Firehole river drive and stopped for a very late lunch by the river. Started to cloud over on the way home but stopped off at Biscuit basin for a look around in the thunder storm, need to come back tomorrow morning in the sunshine. J&A had a rest while we walked down to the furthers of the geysers called river geyser to see that erupt, hoped to get to see daisy geyser as well but it was roughly the same time and it had already erupted by the time we got there. Went for a quick look a the punch bowel spring then back for a quick look in the gift shop. J had a lie down while I went to see Old Faithful erupt again with J&A while having a well deserved beer. When we got back our room still hadn’t been serviced and JA had a word with the front desk. Seems that this hotel only cleans your room every 3 days. Had a game of peruke in the reception and went for a wonder down to the Old Faithfull Inn where we were booked in for dinner at 9pm. Arrived at 8.40 to be told to come back later. Had a look around the very impressive building and sat outside to watch Old Faithful. Went back to the dining room at 9pm to be told that it would be another 20 minutes before we could be seated for the buffet at $40 each. At this point I had a sense of humour failure, and the manager was called. After a brief discussion we were seated and I’s negotiated for all four of us to eat for $40 instead of $40 per head. Buffet wasn’t great and we had to wait for ages for it to be refilled. Very glad we didn’t pay full price as it would have been a complete rip off. Back to a dirty stuffy room.
