Fighting cubs

Met J&A to get some over priced lunch from the deli in the hotel at 7am and headed out to see if we could find any bears. Headed down the road to the east gate where a couple of the bears are meant to be but couldn’t see them. The scenery was stunning though and we did find a couple of foxes working their way along the road to see what they could find. Turned around at the east gate and stopped off to have a short walk to Pelican lake looking for pelican and managed to find a few in the lake near the shore. Next stop was at the general store and J talked to the ranger there to discover there was a bear jam not far so we headed over. On the hill there was a female bear called 864, with her two 1 year old cubs playing in the hills. She was a bit closer earlier in the day, but people were getting to close so the rangers had to scare her away from the road. Still manged to get some photos of them and the cubs playing but it was right on the limit of the camera. Headed further north in the Hayden Valley looking for some more animals but didn’t see any. Next stop was the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and the upper and lower falls which were spectacular. Had a hail shower while walking back from the upper falls so had lunch in the car at artist point waiting for the clouds to pass. Drove further north following the grand canyon until we came to Canyon village Stopped off to have a look as the visitors centre and so J could talk to another ranger before heading back to the hotel for dinner.
