Pepysman

Going, going, gone...

At one time this was the main building of the Lanark Cattle market which was a thriving concern where farmers and dealers from a wide swathe of central Scotland met to buy and sell cattle, sheep and even farm equipment. Now it's all gone and houses and a shopping centre have been built on the site.

The bunting was out in Lanark today for the Lammas Fair next week when there are great celebrations to mark the Riding of the Marches. Traditionally this was done to ensure the borders of the Royal Burgh were secure. Now it is an occasion for a week of celebrations, parades, balls and a Lammas Queen.

Hope they all have a good time.
