Open for business

I read yesterday that individual forget-me-not flowers signal their nectar status to bees by fading the central colour from yellow to white when they have been pollinated.
Uh-oh, thinks the approaching bee, let's go next door, that one's still serving.


From Leif Bersweden "adventuring botanist" who posts on Twitter and has just published a highly-acclaimed book called Where the Wild Flowers Grow.

(Enlarging the image I could see that there  are a few tiny insect larvae on the petals.  What could they be?)
