Caught in the act

I expected to be posting a railway blip as we took our friends to Tenterden this afternoon to look around the rather marvellous Col. Stephens Museum at the station. There was also a double header departing from Tenterden as we arrived.

The shot was marred by a sun ray burst over the locomotive and so couldn’t be used. The museum charts the career of Lt. Col. Holman F Stephens who was a pioneer of the Light Railway movement at the beginning on the 20th century. He had a hand in some 14 light railways across the country, the Kent and East Sussex being the most important.

We adjourned to the Old Dairy Brewery adjacent to the station for a little light refreshment before heading home for more refreshments followed by dinner and trifle.

Before they arrived we had a walk around the village stopping to look carefully at a large swathe of nettles. We’d heard that nettles are a favourite plant for many invertebrates so we decided to see what was there. Curled up leaves, little grubs and these two insects. Anyone know what they are?
