Lozarithm's Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Billy "The Kid" Emerson - Red Hot (recorded 31 May 1955, Sun Studios, Memphis TN)
R.I.P. William Emerson (21 December 1925,Tarpon FL - 25 April 2023, Tarpon FL)
I missed the death of Billy "The Kid" at the time but the recording date of Red Hot, his most well known composition, gives me a chance to post it here. It was covered by many including the rockabilly version by Billy Lee Riley, also for the Sun label. His version did not chart at the time but was the template for umpteen subsequent versions such as those by Bob Luman, Ronnie Hawkins, Robert Gordon and Brian Setzer. It was also performed live by the Beatles during their residency at the Star-Club in Hamburg.
