Groyne at Portobello Beach.

Cold afternoon, breeze off the water. My wife was in Edinburgh for lunch with cousins and her aunt. So I went to promenade, somewhere we like.

A number of groynes were built here to stop sand drift. They also act as a wind break for hardy picnickers, of which there were only a few today. The sea between the groynes is calmer, not much current, and is popular with hardy swimmers.
