Jukka's Log

Something old and something new

Visiting at my friends after the workday and again I couldn't let to use this chance to get one more cityscape from Lappeenranta from his balcony. In the photo is one of the oldest bulidings of town and also the latest one.

St. Mary's Church of Lappee  construction began in April 1792 and the church was consecrated partially unfinished in June 1794. The adjacent bell tower on the left was built half a century later in 1856.

The white appartment house in the middle is to be completed very soon and for now its the newest one in city centre.

The lunch restaurant I use regularly is located in the right corner of the top floor of the glass-walled tall building on the right side of the picture. My latest post of the view from there is here.
