Sea milkweed

This tiny member of the primrose family grows on the shore where it creeps about on the shingle forming dense mats. It has no petals  but the 5 sepals are pale pink. The fleshy leaves store water to counteract the saltiness of its habitat.

Officially Lysimachia maritime it is also known as  Saltwort.
