How Tunn woods

A different walk today. Only 2.5 miles away but we havent been there for 10 years.
How Tunn woods is a new wood , planted out  in 2 fields for the Millenium.
Last time we were there the trees were getting quite well established but not very tall. Today it was hard to  believe the wood is only 23 years old The trees are growing well.
We had a good wander along the various paths with a few back tracks so we didnt have to cross the wild flower meadow. That would have been a lovely walk  as it's at the highest point in Barrow  and there are fantastic views across Morecambe Bay but the sun was strong and we thought it best to keep Fletch to the shade.
Its obviously quite popular for dog walkers but it wasnt too  busy.
I remembered there was a special stone vantage point with views north and and east over the Lake District fells, west across the sea to the Isle of Man and south across Morecambe bay and on a good day beyond to Wales.
I used to work nearby and long before the wood was planted would walk up there in my lunch hour to take in the spectacular view.
So we walked out of the woods to find the view poit. It's still there but the view is  now blocked  by the trees and shrubs which have grown along the edge.  Ah well perhaps in winter when the trees are bare the views will be visible.
But a pleasant enough walk.
