Scrub Jay Adolescent

The Scrub Jay pair that have been frequenting our yard this spring brought out their two adolescent offspring today. 
The photo shows a parent in the background with one of the chicks looking up for the other parent to return. 
It seems they have a nest in one of our shrubs in the backyard. 
Our front porch bird house is empty this year and we wonder if the Scrub Jay couple pushed out the sparrows that usually nest in the birdhouse.
