Teddington / Battersea Park / London Waterloo

We caught a train to Clapham Junction just before 11am to meet a girlfriend who came all the way from County Durham to see us - see did combine it with a visit to her daughter who lives in London, though.  We walked from Clapham Junction to Battersea Park and strolled through the park until we came across a café at the side of the lake.  We were able to sit outside under a sun umbrella to have our lunch, which was lovely.  As we ate, a cheeky heron landed on the area where plates, cutlery and food scraps were collected.  It’s obviously a regular haunt because the heron wasn’t at all bothered by all the people sitting having lunch.  After lunch we wandered some more and found a little coffee place at the entrance to Battersea Park just across from the Thames.  We discovered it also served ice cream, so we each had a pistachio ice cream and a coffee, and enjoyed them while watching the world go by.  After our coffee and ice cream we walked back through the park and along to Clapham Junction where we parted company. It was really lovely walking through the park in the sunshine.

MrMacD and I then caught a train to London Waterloo where we met a friend I used to work with.  She had her cousin with her and the four of us spent an enjoyable couple of hours together chatting and enjoying a meal and a drink.  After we parted company MrMacD and I caught a train back to Teddington.  It’s sunny and warm at last and likely to get hotter over the weekend.
