We visited some friends in Chorley for a great home-cooked lunch and then a walk around Rivington Terraced Gardens.

It's not a place I've ever visited but it was fascinating. It was created for Viscount Leverhulme. One of the founders of Lever Brothers.

This bridge was specially commissioned by Leverhulme after seeing something similar when visiting Africa. It provided access to the summer houses and routes up into the terraced gardens over the former Sandy Lane which is in a hollow below.
