Sgwarnog: In the Field

Skipper

It seemed too hot (for me) for long walks, so I just popped down to Trench Meadows, the protected grassland below Shipley Glen, to see what was about.

The orchids (extra), mainly Common-spotted I think, are starting to show well. Butterflies were not too numerous, but I was patient and thorough and ended up with a good variety: Meadow Brown, Large Skipper, Common Blue, Small Copper, Large White, Green-veined White, Orange-tip and Speckled Wood. For my main image I liked the way the golden buttercups complimented the golden Large Skipper.

I then walked along the river into Roberts Park and watched the cricket for a bit before heading back up the hill home.
