The Shakers (also known as The United Society of Believers in Christ’s Second Appearing) belong to a sect founded in England in about 1747.

They are known, among other characteristics, for their simple living and SIMPLICITY of furniture design.

At the last count in 2021 there was one community with three members in Maine, USA
