Echium piñinata

A close-up of echium piñinata, which is said to be a native of the Canaries but is growing erratically at the end of my lane. I´ve seen pictures of it in Cornwall. Here it´s about 10-12 ft tall. The close-up shows some flowers, and I´ll put in as extras a couple of stand-backs for context.
