Shandwick Pictish Stone

This fabulous sandstone slab carved on both sides in 780AD, stands 2.7M tall in its slightly unearthly glass box in the middle of a field in Easter Ross.

It is part of a set of 3 such slabs that were erected at the time, possibly delineating the limits of a Pictish monastery.
