On Some Days

. . . But you know you're in the largest state in the union
when your anchored down in Anchorage . . .

I'm still a bit confused about what day it is.  We left Auckland on Sunday evening and slept on the plane and landed in San Francisco at lunch time Sunday.  Sunday evening we left for the four and a half hour flight to Anchorage and landed at 10.30 pm to clear daylight.   We crashed into bed at 11.30 pm and still it was light outside.
This morning we slept in and then walked several blocks to find breakfast.  The recommended establishment had a one hour fifteen minute wait for a table.  We declined and walked next door to the sandwich bar which also did eggs.  Cheerful service and a chance to people watch.  The majority were older folks like us with backpacks and the tourist map in hand.
After enquiring at the visitor centre we found a mall with a pleasant young man who patiently explained about data and what he could sell us.  I think I am sorted.
By chance we came across the museum and spent a pleasant time brushing up our general knowledge of Alaska.  There was a floor dedicated to Art and I was especially taken with a series of lithographs (extra)
It is overcast and 12 c which the phone shop guy thought was typical.
