New pine cones

These tiny pine cones are show how they start on the ornamental dwarf pine in the garden. At present, the cones are pea-sized. The extra shows a slightly wider view with last year's cones at the bottom They are still not fully ripe. Not in the picture, but lower still, are two year old cones which have now shed their seed. The orange bits are the pollen to fertilise the seed. Blipfoto makes me look more carefully at such things! Thanks to Jensphotos for hosting.
