Zebra Bird Crossing The River

So excited!

I visited Fishers Green nature reserve this afternoon in the hope of getting some shots in the rain from the hide. I spent some time in there and was able to point out sedge warblers, reed warblers and greenfinches to a guy with a drainpipe lens.

I then got some reasonable shots of swallows, martins, swifts and terns in flight.

I decided to wander along a bit further and heard an unusual call. It was a Great Crested Grebe alone. I proceeded and heard another piping call. It was a zebra-striped grebelet.

The two got together.

Those stripes are perfect camouflage for the chick and I have a pic to prove it but have decided to post parent and child.
