Dwedwch 'na' i ffasiwn gyflym ~ Say 'no' to fast fashion

“We have enough clothing on the planet right now to clothe the next six generations of the human race. We have to find ways of using what we’ve got.”
― Patrick Grant
(Patrick Grant, BBC, 'The Great British Sewing Bee')

Dwedwch 'na' i ffasiwn gyflym... (Dwedwch 'na' i ffasiwn araf... Dwedwch 'na' i ffasiwn.)

Mae gan Sefydliad y Merched arddangosfa yn fwyty John Lewis yng Nghaerdydd. Mae pobl wedi bod yn gwnïo sgwariau fel rhan prosiect Clymblaid Hinsawdd 'Dangoswch y Cariad'. Mae pob sgwâr yn cynrychioli barn artist am yr hinsawdd a'r hyn y gallwn ei wneud.

Mae ffasiwn yn rhan fawr o'r problem oherwydd mae'n yn annog pobl i newid dillad yn llawer rhy aml yn creu llawer o wastraff. Mae'n dda os rydych chi'n gallu gwneud eich dillad eich hunain ac yn gwneud pethau sy'n para am amser hir. Os dych chi ddim yn gwneud dillad (fel fi) dych chi'n dal yn gallu prynu pethau dych chi eisiau cadw am amser hir.

Mae'r broblem, rydw i'n meddwl, ydy syniad o 'ffasiwn' ei hun. Beth yw 'ffasiwn' a pam mae ots gyda ni? Yn lle ffasiwn gallwn ni ffeindio pethau rydyn ni'n werthfawrogi ac yn eu gwisgo cyhyd y maen nhw'n para.

Mae ffasiwn yn dod ac mae ffasiwn yn mynd, ond gwerthfawrogiad yn parhau.

Say 'no' to fast fashion... (Say 'no' to slow fashion... Say 'no' to fashion.)

The Women's Institute has an exhibition at the John Lewis restaurant in Cardiff. People have been sewing squares as part of the Climate Coalition 'Show the Love' project. Each square represents an artist's view of the climate and what we can do.

Fashion is a big part of the problem because it encourages people to change clothes far too often creating a lot of waste. It's good if you can make your own clothes and make things that last a long time. If you don't make clothes (like me) you can still buy things you want to keep for a long time.

The problem, I think, is the idea of 'fashion' itself. What is 'fashion' and why does it matter to us? Instead of fashion we can find things we value and wear them for as long as they last.

Fashion comes and fashion goes, but appreciation remains.
