Amoreira Aqueduct

After a fairly long drive we are now in Portugal. The border town of Elvas is a Unesco world heritage site with many fine old buildings. This mediaeval aqueduct is about  3 or 4 miles long, and was built in the sixteenth century to carry fresh water to the city.
It is SOOOOO hot. About 37 C this afternoon briefly, but a bit cooler this evening . We are staying near Rosario just south of Elvas, and , having said we weren’t going to go to the Algarve we may well do so , and then wend our way slowly up the west coast.
Going to have a day of pootling tomorrow and I hope  a bit of a rest at a delightful campsite with a lovely pool.
