Windsor Castle

We left home at 9am this morning to go to Windsor, as I had booked tickets to visit Windsor castle. Xena was picked up by Fiona and spent the morning with her.

It was another hot and sunny day, and my heart sank when I saw the queue to get into St George's chapel, the chapel where Harry and Meghan got married, Charles and Camilla got their marriage blessed, and Queen Elizabeth II is buried. Luckily the queue moved very quickly so we did not have to stand for too long in the heat. Annoyingly no photos are allowed anywhere in the palace so I could not get any photos of the exquisite chapel. We filed past Queen Elizabeth's tomb where she lies next to Prince Philip. Gavin took the day off work and also came with us. The castle is in very good condition, so clean and immaculate. After touring the palace we had a quick salad lunch at Bills before coming home.

I decided to do a collage of some of the photos - as you can see, King Charles was at home which is signified by his standard flying above the castle.

We had the afternoon resting at home and now we are about to go into London to see the musical Mama Mia. We have seen it before, but my  sister hasn't and as she loves Abba it was her choice of show - we all enjoyed it so are more than happy to see it again. Luke is also joining us - although not Meriel, as she is very busy finishing her thesis for her Masters degree. We have decided to drive into London rather than get the train as the train is like being in a furnace it is so hot - no air conditioning, and the windows don't open except for the little ones at the top.

Tomorrow Adam arrives home from his trip to California, and will see his aunt for the first time in many years. He has had a successful trip and has decided to accept the postdoc fellowship at Dr Panda's lab at the Salk Institute.
