CannyScot's Day

Inside the RRS Discovery

A really hot day

We went to visit the RRS Discovery and the newly renovated Museum and Boeing room.

The viewing room has photos of Dundee in 1910 superimposed on screens round the rectangular top. A commentary shows how Dundee was very polluted by all the emissions from the many Jute Mills. The screens are then lifted and there is a view of the modern Dundee.

We then went aboard the Discovery, which had taken Captain Scott on his first Antarctic exploration in 1910. It is an amazing ship and the blip shows a recreation of men building the hill.

Everyone who explored the Antarctica in those days was very brave and, indeed, Scott and others died there.

Well worth a visit to see the ship and the Museum.
