Sunset at Horomaka Island, Pt. Levy

My Aussie friend (him from that small island out to the west) and I had a wonderful day today, meandering our way from Sumner/Clifton through the Lyttelton tunnel, over Gebbies Pass, Birdlings Flat and Hilltop, to Akaroa harbour. After a delicious deli lunch, and wandering along the foreshore, we made our way back home along the Summit Road, via Pigeon Bay, Port Levy, Diamond Harbour and Lyttelton. Only those who have travelled the Summit Road to Pigeon Bay and Port Levy will appreciate the grandeur of the scenery and the challenges of the narrow gravel road! It all took us heaps longer than would be expected, due to many and varied unscheduled photo shops - he's as trigger happy with his camera as I am!

The sun had set as we made our way down into Port Levy from Wild Cattle Hill, and this photo is a reminder of the end of a very lovely day.

I've marked on the map where we were standing when this image was captured, but it doesn't show Horomaka Island, which is very odd. You'd find it if you Googled it!

Sorry to everyone who has sent me messages over the past couple of days - I've seldom been on Blipfoto, and have replied very little - life should return to whatever passes as normal here, tomorrow! - with a bit of luck
