Weather for Ducks

Think most of the village turned out for the annual village duck race.
It was quite a good feeling as we all walked through the village to assemble at the River Wharfe.
The river had hardly any movement and it was a very slow race for the first half but suddenly it picked up and there was a scramble towards the finishing line.
The first five finishers were put to one side and then the volunteers scooped up the rest in fishing nets.
The first year we moved here we had the duck that came second and won £50.
Think we paid all that back in the intervening years.
A good fundraiser for village projects.
There were teas on the green afterwards and the flower festival in the church was open. 
Decided l will see that tomorrow .
The weather was overcast and sultry, can feel the expected thunderstorms in the air.
